Carrie Martin Terranova Downard, 72, of Murphy, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2018, at her home.
She was a native of Westerly, R.I., and the daughter of the late Francis James and Sara Chisholm Archie Tasca.
Carrie worked 12 years at Wayside House, a woman’s treatment center as a CAP while going to college and getting her master’ s degree in marriage and family therapy. She also helped women with alcohol and drug problems by providing housing, counseling and guidance.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Shawn Tasca; and one sister, Nancy Lamphere.
She is survived by her husband, Donald E. Downard; one stepson, Caine Downard; one daughter by choice, Debra Duby; two stepdaughters, Stephanie Downard and Brandy Downard; three brothers, Robbie Tasca, Scott Tasca and Chris Tasca; two sisters, Lisa Layton and Sally Tasca; one grandchild, Morgan Tasca Mansfield; nieces and nephews; and eight step great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 24, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. The Rev. Aud Brown will officiate.
The family will receive friends from noon-1 p.m. Saturday, March 24, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home in Murphy.
