Willard Floyd

    Willard Charles Floyd, 92, of Mauney Circle in Blairsville, Ga., passed away peacefully Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018, at his home following an extended illness.
    Mr. Floyd was born Jan. 24, 1926 in Murphy, the son of the late Thomas Andrew Floyd and Irie Hedrick Floyd.
    He was a veteran of the U.S. Army in World War II, was in the occupation of Japan and served in combat in the Philippines.
    He was a 60-plus year member of Dooley Masonic Lodge No. 367 F&AM.
    Willard was a license contractor/builder in Murphy for many years.
    He was a loving father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was an avid Braves fan, and next to God and his family they were probably next in line.
    He was preceded in death by his wife, Jimmye Mauney Floyd; parents; and two brothers, Andrew and Richard Floyd.
    Mr. Floyd was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
    Surviving Mr. Floyd are one son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Linda Floyd of Blairsville; two sisters, Verna Puett of Blairsville, and Joanne Miriani of Sterling Heights, Mich.; two brothers and one sister-in-law, T.A. and Dot Floyd of Blairsville, and Kenneth Floyd of Blairsville; four grandchildren, Derek and Emily Floyd, Dakota and Lauren Floyd, Ana and Jason Hall, Ryan and Jordan Hadas; two great-grandchildren, Elijah Hall and Ryleigh Floyd;  several nieces, nephews; and many other relatives and friends also survive.
    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, from the Mountain View Chapel in Blairsville with the Revs. Tommy Jenkins and David Feathers officiating. The following gentleman served as pallbearers, Derek Floyd, Dakota Floyd, Jason Hall, James Dye, Brian Davis and Eric Davis. Interment followed in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, where he will rest next to his beloved wife, Jimmye. The North Georgia Honor Guard conducted military honors.
    The family will met with friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, at the funeral home.
    Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville was in charge of arrangements.
