
Edward Adam Helton, 83, of Murphy, passed away Thursday, Oct, 25, 2018, at Erlanger Medical Center.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County, and son of the late Clyde and Lena Goforth Helton.
Edward was owner and operator of Hillside Gift Shop. He was a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church.
Edward loved helping his neighbors.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Barbara Etta Helton; sister, Marjorie Coker; and sister-in-law, Mary Zell Helton.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Annette Helton; two daughters, Wanda Anderson and husband Bill, and Willena Helton, all of Murphy; six brothers, James Helton, Barry Helton, Russell Helton and wife Delene, Harold Helton and wife Gaynell, Danny Helton and wife Rhena and John Helton and wife Elva; four sisters, Carole Strom and husband Bill, Fran La Perriere and husband Darel, Bonnie Ruth Moore and husband Kenneth, Mary Jane Huie and husband Dave; grandchildren, Stephanie Hass and husband Curtis, Blake Helton, Wade Anderson, Cory Anderson and Robert “Bo” Helton; great-granddaughters, Catelyn White, Olivia Anderson and Anslee Hass; brother-in-law, Dewey “Shug” Sutton; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. The Rev. Jerry Morrow officiated. A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28, at Mount Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Blake Helton, Wade Anderson, Cory Anderson, Robert “Bo” Helton, Bill Anderson and Curtis Hass.
The family received friends from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel.
