
W.E. Price Jr., 89, passed away Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018, at a Wilmington hospital after a short illness.
A native of Cherokee County, Junior was preceded in death by his father, W.E. Price Sr.; his mother, Lenna Lee Price; his wife, Thelma (Ted) Brendle Price; his daughter, Donna Bea Taylor; and sisters, Azalee English, Althea Moore and Edith Little.
Junior retired after a lifetime career as a cross country transfer truck driver, where he worked as a partner with his brother, Edward Hoyt Price, who preceded him in death in 2004. The two brothers retired to Wrightsville Beach, where they shared many joyful fishing adventures on their boat, “Lucky 7.”
He is survived by a daughter, Vicki Lee Price Schramm, a son-in-law, Donnie Taylor, two grandsons, Jeremy and Jordan, and two great-grandchildren, all of Kannapolis/Concord; two brothers, Dale Price of Murphy, Richard Price of Midland; his sisters, Aleen Keener of Murphy, Gail Lambert of Salisbury, Angie Kiser of Fortson, Ga., Linda Kimble of Salisbury; and numerous much loved nieces and nephews.
A memorial service and spreading of ashes at sea will be held Saturday, Nov. 10, in Wilmington. A joint memorial service for both Junior and his wife, Teddy, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Tomotla Community Cemetery.
