
Amanda Jane James Hannah, 75, of Murphy, passed away Monday, Nov. 12, 2018, in a Murphy care facility.
Jane was a native of Danville, Va., but was raised in the Bessemer City area. She lived in Germany for three years, but was living in Fort Gordon, Ga., near Augusta, before moving to Murphy in 1993.
Jane was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She loved her children and making a home for her family. Jane was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, who will be deeply missed.
She was the daughter of the late Efton Clifton and Hattie Sneed James. She also was preceded in death by a son, Richard Scott Hannah; a sister, Peggy Jewel Paysour; and a brother, Richard James.
Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Verlen Hannah; a daughter, Susan Lee Hannah and husband Steven Goldberg of Evans, Ga.; two sons, Stephen Mark Hannah and wife Margaret of Apex, N.C., and Jason Keith Hannah and wife Mitzi of Martinez, Ga.; five sisters, Betty Croft, and Irene Clark and husband the Rev. Roy Dean, all of Bessemer City, Mary Ellen Shope and husband the Rev. Larry, and Gail Carter and husband the Rev. Edward, all of Murphy, and Ruth Lynn James of Young Harris, Ga.; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, with the Rev. Edward Carter officiating. The interment will be in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Matthew and Adam Hannah, Michael, Isaac and Jacob Carter, and James Shope.
The family will receive friends from noon-1:45 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, prior to the services.
