
Salvatore Joseph “Sal” DeVito, 72, of Murphy, passed away Monday, Feb. 25, 2019, at his residence.
He was a native of Brooklyn, N.Y., but lived in Lake Worth, Fla., before moving to Murphy in 1992.
Sal had been a plumber for more than 50 years. Sal played softball for a local league for more than 20 years.
He was the son of the late Salvatore Joseph DeVito Sr. and Rose M. Tristaino DeVito. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Rocco Varvaro.
Surviving are his wife, Lois Faulkner DeVito; two sons, Salvatore Joseph DeVito III of East Tawas, Mich., and Anthony Augustus DeVito of Winter Haven, Fla.; a brother, Michael Varvaro of Brooksville, Fla.; and six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at Vista Realty, 75 Pine Lane, Murphy, with the Rev. Joy Stein officiating.
Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, is in charge of arrangements.
