
Earl Rae Strain, known to most as “Chief”, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at his home, on April 29, 2019.
Rae was a native of El Paso, Texas; he also lived in Louisiana, Georgia and finished out his days in the mountains of North Carolina. Rae was known for his passion for motorcycles and his colorful conversations. He was a house painter by trade and business owner for 20 years.
Rae’s passing was preceded by the loss of his mother, Mada Beth White and father, Earl Hugh Strain. Rae leaves behind daughters, Sherry Strain and Jennifer Hudson, as well as sons, Steven Strain and Earl Strain, 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, life companion Sue Dalrymple Coley, step daughter and son in-law, Terra and Warren Foster and a brother, Charles Strain.
A celebration of Rae’s life will be held at Bates Creek Baptist Church in Murphy. Friends and family will be received at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, and services are to begin at 2 p.m.
