
Shelia Gail Kephart Phillips, age 58 of Murphy, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2016 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC.
Shelia was a native of Cherokee County, NC. She was a daughter of the late Frank and Josephine Kephart. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Merle Kephart and sister, Janice Payne.
Shelia was the church pianist at Ebenezer Baptist Church for more than 30 years. She was blessed with exceptional musical gifts, which she passionately used to serve her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her immense faith was her most defining attribute. Shelia was deeply loved by all that knew her and was a supremely loving family caregiver, nurturer and role model. Shelia was also co-owner and bookkeeper for Johnny Phillips Construction Company.
Surviving are her husband, Johnny Phillips; son, Christopher Phillips and his wife, Peach; daughter, Alisha NeSmith and her husband, Thomas; stepson, Shannon Phillips; step grandson, Blake Phillips; brother, Harold Kephart; sisters, Alice McCanless, Sharon Kephart and Karen Twiss; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service was held at 4:00 PM Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Murphy, NC. Rev. Edward Carter and Rev. Larry Hall officiated.
The family received friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM Saturday, July 16, 2016 at the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Murphy, NC.
