Julia Ellison

Aug. 6, 1941-July 16, 2016
    Judy Ellison, 74, of Lawrenceville, Ga., and formerly of Murphy, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2016, following a brave battle against pancreatic cancer.  
    She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend to many.  
    She was known for her wonderful cooking, sewing and gardening. Family and friends enjoyed her delicious potato salad, chicken and dumplings, and banana pudding. She loved to make sauerkraut, jams and salsa from fresh fruit and veggies.
    She made more than 75 Memory Bears for others from their loved one’s clothing.
    She was a member of Little Glade Baptist Church.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Ellison; her parents, Margaret and Johnny Cantrell of Brasstown, and Robert Clyde Fisher of Silver Springs, Nev.; brother, Bob Fisher of Colfax, Calif.; sister, Tammie Davis of Sparks, Nev.; and former son-in-law, Tony Reece of Lawrenceville, Ga.
    She is survived by her “other” mother, Elsie Fisher of Sacramento, Calif.; daughter, April Reece; daughter-in-law, Robbin Jarvis of Lawrenceville, Ga.; sons and daughters-in-law, Mack and Debbie Dockery of Murrayville, Ga., and Mike and Sheila Dockery of Murphy; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Veronica and David Sherrod of Birmingham, Ala.;  stepsons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Hope Ellison of Murphy, and Doug and April Ellison of Murphy; brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward and Sheila Cantrell of Hayesville, Melvin and Kathy Cantrell of Brasstown, Darrold and Terri Fisher of Santa Rosa, Calif.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Vic Payne of Brasstown, Kathy and Donald Bridges of Sacramento, Calif.; a special uncle who was more like a brother, Virgil McKinley Johnson of Berlin, N.J.; 20 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friend and caregiver, Barbara Jarvis.
    A memorial service was held Saturday, July 23, at Little Brasstown Baptist Church. Dallas Crowder officiated, and Robbie Ellison gave the eulogy. Music was provided by Diana Russell and granddaughters Alesha Orton and Ashley Ellison.
    In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Vitas Healthcare Hospice Foundation, in memory of Julia Ellison, 1575 Northside Drive, Ste. 375, Atlanta, GA 30318.
