
Mr. Jack Harold Phillips, 80, of Taylors Creek Road in Andrews, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family Wednesday Nov. 23, 2016, following an extended illness.
Mr. Phillips was born Aug. 22, 1936, in Andrews, the son of the late Gordon Phillips and Blanche Luther Phillips. He was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County.
Jack loved fishing, hunting, woodworking and was very active in his church. He was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather.
Jack was a member of Valley River Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Katelon Phillips; and a brother, Marvin Phillips.
Surviving Mr. Phillips are his loving wife and best friend of 57 years, Jean Hall Phillips of Andrews; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Randy and Cherry Phillips of Andrews, Gary Phillips and his fiancee, Delynn Culp, of Adairsville, Ga.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen and L.V. Blaylock, Ina and Mike Wheeler; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Bill and Faye Phillips, the Rev. Roy and Marie Phillips, Melvin Phillips, all of Andrews; five grandchildren, Curtis and Misty Phillips, Chris and Lisa Adams, Brittany Phillips, Mashala Phillips and Dylan Phillips; three step grandchildren, Keith Gould, Krystal Donald and Amanda Holden; seven great-grandchildren, three step great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday Nov. 26, from Valley River Baptist Church with the Revs. Eddie Hardin, Steve West, Shane Kirby and John Hall officiating. Special music will be presented by Wilton Ensley, Rolin Phillips and the church choir. Serving as pallbearers will be Jack’s nephews and close friends. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Valley River Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will meet with friends from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, at Valley River Baptist Church. Flowers will be accepted or if you wish, donations may be made to Valley River Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 1189. Andrews, NC 28901 in Jack’s memory.
