Pastor Steven “Steve” Dennis Stone, 51, of Brasstown, passed Monday, Dec. 5, 2016, at Mission Hospital in Asheville.
He was born in San Diego, Calif., to Evelyn Behm Stone of Franklin and the late Henry Stone.
Steven was the pastor at Hayesville Church of the Nazarene. He was the chaplain of Brasstown Volunteer Fire Department and director of the Clay County Chaplain Association.
Steven’s main focus was the church.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Stone; one son, Joshua Michael Stone; two brothers, Bryan Stone and wife Cheryl of Boston, Mass., and Darren Stone of Standish, Maine.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at Little Brasstown Baptist Church. Dr. Gregory Mason and the Rev. Gerald Hice officiated. Burial was in Sweetwater United Methodist Cemetery in Hayesville. Brasstown Volunteer Fire Department members were pallbearers.
The family received friends from noon-2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at Little Brasstown Baptist Church.
