
Wanda Cornwell Reid, 79, of Murphy, passed away Friday, Feb. 17, 2017, at her residence.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County. She was born to the late Beecher Cornwell and Dorothy Hampton Cornwell.
Wanda was a member of The Church of God of Prophecy. She was involved in her husband Clyde Reid’s ministry until his death in 2000. She and Clyde also owned and operated Reid’s Place in Andrews for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Clyde Reid; daughter, Liz Farley; and three brothers, Roger Cornwell, B.J. Cornwell and Larry Cornwell.
Wanda is survived by three sons, Joey Reid and wife Sonya, Mike Reid and James Reid; four daughters, Teresa Bateman and husband Elridge, Susie Carrow and husband Bill, Mary Reid and Sheila Woods and husband Ronald; one brother, Gary Cornwell; two sisters, Vivian Shields and Ann Martin; 24 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. Pastor Richard Morrow officiated. Burial was in Valleytown Cemetery in Andrews. Pallbearers were Adam Stewart, Jacob Reid, Grey Reid, Ronald Woods, Doyle Woods and Dustin Barton.
The family received friends from noon-2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home in Murphy.
