Robert Lee Jones, 83, of the Anthony Branch Community in Robbinsville, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017, at his residence.
He was a native of Swain County and the son of the late Lee and Rosie Hughes Jones. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Crisp Jones, who passed away on May 24, 2016; his brothers, Denny Jones and Steve Jones; and his sister, Mildred Hopkins.
He is survived by his daughters and their husbands, Connie and Larry Stalcup of Murphy, Carol and Ricky Southard of Robbinsville; son and his wife, Gary and Claudine Jones of Robbinsville; six grandchildren, Jason and Lonnie Stalcup, Candy, Danielle and Abby Jones and Devin Southard; two great-grandchildren, Blake Stalcup and Payton McCracken; and his sisters, Willa Jones and Dot Jones, both of Maryville, Tenn.; and Niece Orr of Robbinsville.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, at Sweetgum Baptist Church. The Revs. Daniel Stewart and Mike Teem will officiate. Burial will follow at Bear Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, at the church prior to the services.
