
James “Jay” Rathbone, 69, of Marble, passed away Monday, March 13, 2017, at his residence.
He was a native of Macon County, and the son of the late Estes and Thelma Pendergrass Rathbone.
Jay was a diesel mechanic for P & R Farms. He enjoyed refurbishing old Volkswagen engines.
Jay was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Peachtree community.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Nancy Rathbone; son, James “Tony” Rathbone; daughters, Janelle Stockton and Kara Foster; and his extended family.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 16, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. President Ron Moore and Mike Crubaugh officiated. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Christopher Greene, Logan Whitener, David Patton, Greggory Prince, Jake Garrison, Eric Martin and Eric Dockery
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home.
