
Hoyt Kilpatrick, 72, of Murphy, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at his residence.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County, the son of the late Andy and Verdie Jones Kilpatrick.
Hoyt retired from Levi Strauss in Blue Ridge, Ga., after working for 33½ years as a machine mechanic. He received certificates of award for his many accomplishments through achievements on his job at Levi Strauss.
Hoyt was a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather. He loved the Lord and his church family. Hoyt was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Frank Kilpatrick and William Howard Kilpatrick.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda Roberts Kilpatrick; two daughters, Melinda Kay Kilpatrick Cribbs and husband Joel of Fort Myers, Fla., and Lora Lynn Kilpatrick Stewart and husband Terry “Huck” of Murphy; one son, James Andrew Kilpatrick and wife Charlotte of Blue Ridge, Ga.; one sister, Dorothy Kilpatrick; four grandchildren, Ariel Lynette Rogers, Chase Roberts, Angel Roberts and Jonah Kilpatrick; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 28, at Hopewell Baptist Church. Pastor Bill Mathis and the Rev. Matthew Mull officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Terry “Huck” Stewart, Joe Cribbs, Matthew Mull, Boone Roberts, William Roberts, Chase Roberts, Jason Roberts, Brian Mundy and Brian Stiles.
The family received friends from noon-2 p.m. Sunday, May 28, at Hopewell Baptist Church.
