James Henry Carter, 75, of Murphy, passed away Monday, Nov. 6, 2017, in Macon County.
He was a native of Cherokee County, and the son of the late Emsey Rufus and Nettie Dockery Carter.
James attended church every Sunday.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James Howard Carter and Lee Ross Carter; and one sister, Staci Mae Carter.
He is survived by two sisters, Frankie Ruth Hughes of Blairsville, Ga., and Ruby Hedden Collier of Marble; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. The Rev. Ralph Barnard will officiate. Burial will be in Hiawassee Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, at Townson Rose Funeral Home.
