
Annie Lee Martin, 81, of Hayesville, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2017, in a Gainesville, Ga., hospital.
She was a member of Fires Creek Baptist Church since her youth, where she enjoyed fellowshipping with family and friends.
She had been employed in the local manufacturing industry. In her later years, she stayed home to stay with her grandchildren.
She was the daughter of the late Henry Lewis and Mary Christine Leatherwood Roach. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Christine McDowell, Lucille Deaton and Mildred Buchanan; and two brothers, Thomas and Bill Roach.
Surviving are her husband, Verlon Martin Jr.; two daughters, Cindy Gaddis and husband Donald of Murphy and June York and husband Jerry of Hayesville; three grandchildren, Jill York Cherry and husband Justin, Amanda Gaddis, and Todd Gaddis and wife Emily; five great-grandchildren, Halle and Campbell Gaddis, and Ellisyn, Braxton and Maci Cherry; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville, with the Revs. Eddis Dockery and Chris Rumfelt officiating, and graveside services conducted by the Rev. Dallas Crowder at Fires Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Justin Cherry, Dale Roach, Barron Martin, Ray Hicks, Benny Kirby and Tony Lands.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, at Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Annie Martin to Fires Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 448 Rebel Lane, Hayesville, NC 28904.
Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville, was in charge of all arrangements.
