Masako Kamebe Wheeler, 81, of Arden and formerly of Murphy, passed away Sunday, Nov. 12, 2017.
Masako was born in Shisen, Korea, to the late Yaiichi and Ukie Shuoinoto Kamebe.
In addition to a brother and her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Wheeler.
Her family moved from Korea back to Nagasaki in their homeland of Japan immediately after World War II, and that is where she later met and married “Pete” Wheeler. They made their home in Red Hook, N.Y. After retiring, they moved to Lake City, Fla., and finally to Murphy.
Masako began a serious study of the Bible over 40 years ago and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Her newly found faith became her greatest treasure, and she freely shared it with others.
Though childless and without family nearby, Masako has made lasting friendships with young and old alike. She was industrious and happy, humble and loyal; with a contagious smile.
Many of her friends will  gather in Masako’s memory at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Marble. Lenny West will share memories and words of comfort and hope from the Scriptures.
You may send tributes to the Wheeler family at www.townson-rose.com.
Townson-Rose Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
