Minnie Alexander

    Minnie R. Moore Alexander of Duluth, Ga., passed away Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017, at home with her husband, Glenn.
    She was born in Murphy on March 28, 1952, to the late Edward Rae and Minnie Stalcup Moore.
    Minnie was the salutatorian of the Murphy High School Class of 1970 and was chosen Most Intellectual, among other accomplishments.
    Minnie loved bookkeeping and started a career in bookkeeping at Hitchcock Talc Mines. She also worked for the Cherokee County Health Department for several years.
    In 1981, she moved to Atlanta with her husband and worked for several accounting firms ending at Workman and Co. Property Management. Minnie enjoyed doing makeup, her cats and was an avid Indy car fan, especially Penski Racing and Will Power. She also watched NASCAR Racing with her husband, Glenn, and pulled for A.J. Allmendinger.
    Surviving are her husband of 37 years, Robert Glenn Alexander III; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
     A short committal service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, with Dr. Chester Jones officiating. The family will receive friends following the committal service until 3:30 p.m. A private interment will take place at Sunset Cemetery at a later date.
    In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in loving memory of Minnie R. Moore Alexander to Murphy Presbyterian Church, 252 Valley River Ave., Murphy, NC 28906.
    Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, is in charge of arrangements.
