
Frank Lamarr Mathis Jr. “P-nut,” 55, of Murphy, passed away Wednesday, Feb.14, 2018, in a Chattanooga, Tenn., hospital.
He was a native of Dunlap, Tenn., but lived his adult life in Murphy. Frank owned and operated Peachtree Farm & Home and later worked in construction.
Frank enjoyed fellowshipping with family and friends, especially around the dinner table. He was a former member of Gideons International, and he was of the Baptist faith.
He was the son of Frank Lamarr and Marie McDowell Mathis of Murphy.
He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Ira Otis and Martha Clammie McDowell; paternal grandparents, A.V. and Clarcy Mathis; and sister, Martha Susan Mathis.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are a daughter, Krista Estrada of Murphy; a son, Joshua A. Mathis and fiancee, Hannah Faith Pryor of Fountain Inn, S.C.; a sister, Melissa Joyce Hughes of Murphy; a brother, Charles L. Mathis of Murphy; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, with the Rev. Johnny Foster officiating. The interment will be in Peachtree Community Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joshua and Bobby Mathis, Jordon Hughes, Scott Helton, and Jordon and Cody Messer.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16, at Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy.
