Melanie Laura Jones Thompson, 49, of Hayesville, passed away Friday, June 29, 2018, in Marietta, S.C.
She was the daughter of Ernest T. and Louise Morley Jones of the Peachtree community.
Melanie was a school teacher at Hayesville Middle School. She was a member of Shooting Creek Baptist Church in Hayesville. Melanie loved the Lord, children and college ministries.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Keith Thompson; one son, Brian Thompson of Hayesville; two daughters, Alice Thompson Tallman and husband Caleb and Amanda Thompson, all of Hayesville; sister, Mary Alice Bowers of Marietta, S.C; and one grandchild, Graeme Thompson.
Funeral services were held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, at Peachtree Memorial Baptist Church. The Revs. Denny Moss and Daryl Rose officiated.
Burial was at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 4, in Unaka Baptist Church Cemetery. Dr. Chester Jones officiated. Pallbearers were Sam Beck, Jeff Penland, Scotty Monkus, Casey Jones, Brandon Thompson and Brian Heath Thompson.
The family received friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, at Peachtree Memorial Baptist Church.
