
Gloria Peggy Godert, 90 years young, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2019, in Fort Myers, Fla.
Born Sept. 7, 1928, in Blasdell, N.Y., to the late Earl and Cora McClelland, Gloria grew up in Springville, N.Y.
She often shared stories of her life, family and friends from her early years. She and husband, Kenneth Wilson, raised two children in Springville. She enjoyed writing feature stories for the Springville Journal and Buffalo Evening News, and painting wall murals for local establishments, including Chaffee Hospital.
Gloria brought energy and enthusiasm to all she did and continued her love of writing and painting throughout her life.
Gloria and husband, Carl Godert, shared many retirement years between Florida and the Smoky Mountains of Murphy, where she enjoyed the outdoors and loved helping Carl with the youth chess classes he taught.
Gloria loved people, and she had a great love for and faith in God.
Gloria is survived and greatly missed by her husband, Carl Godert; daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Italo Rovere; son, James Wilson; and grandchildren, Maria, Angela, Judy, Amber and Rusty.
In addition to her parents, Gloria was predeceased by her sister, Joyce Wiltse; brothers, Robert and Richard McClelland; and by grandsons, Kenneth and Cody.
Private memorial services will be held at later dates in both Springville, N.Y., and Murphy.
