
Martin Curtis Daves, 82, of Andrews, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017, at Valley View Care Center in Andrews.
He was born in Macon County to the late Earlie Ervin and Florence Evelyn Waters Daves.
Martin retired from Ford Motor Co. in Sterling Heights, Mich., in 1993 as a quality controller with 40 years of service. He moved back to the area in 1994 and was a member of Valleytown Baptist Church.
Martin enjoyed working in his garden, hunting, fishing and golfing. He also enjoyed children and puppies.
Martin was a member of Andrews Masonic Lodge No. 529 AF&AM, and he also was a Shriner.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Daves.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Reba Jean Mosteller Daves; one son, Jeffrey S. Daves of South Lyon, Mich.; one daughter, Jennifer Shepherd and husband Doak of Greenville, S.C.; one sister, Syrtta Owenby and husband Jerry of Andrews; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8, at Townson-Rose Chapel in Andrews. Pastor Eric Byrd and the Rev. S.J. Waters officiated. Masonic rites were conducted by Andrews Masonic Lodge No. 529 AF&AM. Burial was in Valleytown Cemetery.
The family receive friends from noon-2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8, at Townson-Rose Chapel in Andrews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 W. Farris Ave., Greenville, SC 29605.
The family would like to thank Valley View Nursing Home, their staff and Good Shepherd Home Health for their care. Also, we would like to thank all our family and friends who came to Brasstown Manor to visit.
