
Betty Carol Hampton, 72, of Murphy, passed away Sunday, Nov. 19, 2017.
She was born in Jackson County, Ala., to the late James and Alice Akins Liles.
Betty was a homemaker. Betty was a loving, caring and kind woman. She was so full of happiness that her smile would light up a room.
Betty was a devout Christian, and wanted to tell everyone she knew about her Lord and Savior. She loved to sing, especially in church. She had a voice of an angel.
She is survived by her husband, Kendall Hampton; one son, Kevin Scott and wife Michelle of Birmingham, Ala.; one daughter, Selena Matthews and husband Chris of Ashville, Ala.; grandchildren, Emily Capps, Heather Williams and husband Alan, Laura Young, Jessica McCormick and husband Jason, Hunter Scott, Ryan Matthews and Riley Matthews; great-grandchildren, Zoee Williams and Finn Young; two sisters, Jean Taylor of Hoover, Ala., and Ann Bonds and husband Gene of Albertville, Ala.; two brothers, Melvin Liles of Huntsville, Ala., and Royce Liles and wife Beverly of Huntsville, Ala.; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, at Shiloh Baptist Church in Hayesville. The Revs. Clark Moss and L.B. Adams officiated. Burial was in Hanging Dog Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home in Murphy.
