
Roy Gene Dockery, 78, of Marble, passed away Friday, March 23, 2018, in Park Ridge hospital, Chattanooga, Tenn.
He was a native and lifetime resident of Marble. He was a 1958 graduate of Murphy High School.
Roy worked more than 35 years at American Thread plant until his retirement in 2002. He was a member of Marble Springs Masonic Lodge No. 439.
Roy enjoyed coaching youth basketball and fishing. He enjoyed raising Shih Tzu’s for many years and gold prospecting.
He loved his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids.
He was the son of the late J.P. and Cora Franklin Dockery and husband of the late Carolyn “Tootsie” Lovingood Dockery, who died Feb. 2, 2007. He also was preceded in death by two sisters, Ethel Dockery and Lena Owens; and a brother, Steve Dockery.
Surviving are two daughters, Patricia Brooks and husband Steve of Clarkesville, Ga., and Teresa Baker and husband Keith of Blairsville, Ga.; a son, Kevin Dockery and wife Erica of Asheville; two brothers, Frank Dockery of Marble, and Albert Dockery and wife Kate of Murphy; six grandchildren, Barrett Rogers, Brandon Rogers, Keisha Dockery, Stephanie Hough, Sarah Bowman and Brittney Dockery; five great-grandchildren, Savannah Rogers, Tate Rogers, Hutch Dockery, Colt Rogers and Levi Hough. He also is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 29, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, with the Rev. Jim Hall officiating. The interment will be in Moss Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Barrett Rogers, Heath Dockery, Brandon Rogers, Jackson Baker, Patrick Graham, Chuck Davis and T.J. Hansen.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, at Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy.
