Bobbie Jean Carter

    Bobbie Jean Carter, 81, of Cleveland, Tenn., passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2016. 
    She was born Jan. 3, 1935, to the late Thomas Alexander Bandy and Ethel Arizona Morrow Bandy. 
    Bobbie has been a resident of Cleveland since 1994 and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Cherokee County.
    She loved doing crafts, cooking and watching sports, especially golf. She also was an avid Braves, Vols and NASCAR fan.
    Above all things, Bobbie loved to spoil her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
    In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Weldon L. Carter, and sister, Madeline Morgan.
    She leaves behind to cherish her memory her son, Tommy Carter (Nancy H. Carter), and daughter, Mary Jane Holder (Richmond L. Holder); brothers, James Bandy (June), Fred Bandy (Joyce), Lynn Bandy (Alice), Steve Bandy (Patty); sister Joan Casteel; grandchildren, Joshua Holder (Amanda) and Jenny Kirkpatrick (Judson); great-grandchildren, Benjamin Holder, Samual Holder, Christianna Kirkpatrick and Gideon Kirkpatrick.
    In addition to these, she leaves behind numerous other extended family members and friends.
    A funeral service was held at 7 p.m. Friday, April 1, at Union Missionary Baptist Church, 797 Hughes Lake Road, Cleveland, Tenn., with Pastor Larry Humbard officiating. The family received friends from 4-7 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
    The family held a private interment at Crest Lawn Cemetery in Copperhill, Tenn.
    In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
